Sala Family Dentistry's 1st Dentistry From the Heart Event- On November 20, 2009, Sala Family Dentistry held Nevada’s first Dentistry From the Heart, free dental day. With the help of Dr. Scott Boyden, DDS, MD and many volunteers we were able to treat 113 people from the community that do not have dental insurance or who could not afford to go to a dentist. In 2001, Dr. Vincent Monticciolo founded the non-profit organization, Dentistry From the Heart, in New Port Richey, Florida, after realizing that many of Americans are without dental insurance and it is a growing problem. In 2009 alone, Dentistry from the Heart events were held in 37 states across the country with more than 100 host locations, treating over 12,000 patients by providing over 3 million dollars of free dentistry! Sala Family Dentistry, Dr. Scott Boyden, DDS, MD and staff and numberous volunteers came together to make this first free dental day a successful event!

Sala Family Dentistry and Dr. Scott Boyden, DDS, MD along with his staff and numberous volunteers made this day successful!

After sleeping in the parking lot over night, they were happy to wait in the warm reception room while we processed the paperwork!

Meet Frank. He was the first patient to show up and wait in line. He helped us set up for the event the night before and then happily waited all night on our door step. He was so happy to be treated that he hugged everyone on the way out the door when he left. It was great patients like Frank that made this day memorable!

Meet Lupe (on the left) she was our spanish speaking interpreter and Lana Blackbern (on the right) who took all of these beautiful photographs. You can see more of her work at http://www.pbase.com/lbgrafix

Some people turned out at the event for a free dental cleaning. Meet Jen M, a dental hygienist at SFD.

Dr. Boyden's wife and son brought some hot coffee and hot chocolate for some much-needed warmth for those waiting in line!
